Al Gore
Oh please....I never heard him support the Tea Party.
Funny that.
How does he say this with a straight face?

Steve Jobs RIP
Visionary.
Will our current way of viewing people as all equal, all winners, allow another one to come forward?
Weren't we supposed to hate him because he was a billionaire at the head of a....CORPORATION?
Sometimes it's hard to keep up....
update: his commencement speech was quite remarkable and well worth taking 15 minutes to watch

Cheney/Obama
Maybe it is possible to forget how it felt on September 12, 2001. If I recall correctly, there were few people who didn't feel that another attack was imminent.
I know it is possible to forget some things that have been said in the past ten years because I had forgotten the accusation of 'over-reaction' on the part of the Bush administration.
Luckily some amongst us have a better memory.

underwater
Watching some older footage from Cousteau, checking out the Nile river.
I guess that is where a lot of this enviornmentalism has its roots.
The happy go lucky natives are fine but cue the sinister music when those 'moderns' go and do something stupid like building a dam so that people can get water.
He seems to suggest that man is somehow outside of nature, like a blot on what otherwise would be a perfect self sustaining world where the balance is equisitely maintained.
Subtle Jacques, very subtle.

Who really believes this?
Can you imagine how much it cost, (in money and in inconvenience for other patrons) in order to get these shots?

It's not easy being green
Sometimes I listen to politicians and I can't help but wonder how much practice it takes to sound like that. Then I wonder how much of their time they have spent developing the ability to talk like that. How much time does it leave for other thoughts? Creative thoughts? Inventive thoughts?
And then I think about all the Government offices and how many of them there are.
And then I see this and it explains a lot, and much more clearly than I have managed

connections
Sometimes it seems clearer why the Nazis and the Radical Islamists got on so well.
They both seem to revel in the minutia of 'bloodlines'. The Nazis looked for Jewish blood, the Islamists seek apostasy.
Can someone explain to me why they aren't protesting Iran at the Durban confabs?...surely the U.N. could turn their focus away from Israel every now and again...or even once.
She needs better writers...
If she really meant this to be a joke, she also ought to work on her delivery...
He actually says it like he's proud of it...
Earlier in his address Bloomberg lauded the past dietary efforts of NYC, “In 2009 we enacted the first restriction on cholesterol-free artificial trans fat in the city’s food service establishments. Our licensing of street green card producer/vendors has greatly increased the availability of fresh fruits and vegetables in neighborhoods with high rates of diet related diseases. And we’ve led a national salt reduction initiative and engaged 28 food manufacturers, supermarkets and restaurant chains to voluntarily commit to reducing excessive amounts of sodium in their products. ”
At first I thought I was reading a piece of satire...wishful thinking I guess...
Peace Lovers
"Protesters outside chanted “Detain Dick” and antiwar slogans as they gathered around a banner that read “War Criminal Dick Cheney Is Not Welcome in Canada.”
Speak for yourself bucko.
"The Calgary protests were mild compared to Monday night in Vancouver, where those attending Cheney’s book event were mobbed, insulted and slapped in the face with placards as they attempted to enter the ritzy Vancouver Club."
...because they are PEACE LOVERS. So it is well within their rights to attack innocent people for attending a dinner? Amazing and did I mention 'unserious'?

Now now Susan
One of the expressions I find most mystifying is when people praise someone for "making a difference."
In the most benign sense, my dog makes a difference when he chases a cat. Or for that matter, when he doesn't. Marx made a difference and so did Lincoln. I'm not sure why when someone like Ms. Sarandon says it she adds a value to it. Maybe she is just saying this stuff because she's embarrassed that she supported Obama.
All those folks protesting...what is their end goal? Do they have one? Or is the event itself the whole thing? Do any of them understand how Wall Street works or do any of them have suggestions as to how to make it work 'differently'?
Ah well. Hopefully she didn't keep her limo running while she tread among the masses before heading to the airport. What a funny world that reveres people who seem so vapid.
watch it while you still can
Apparently, under pressure from the White House this ad was pulled from You Tube.
Now it's back up but who knows for how long...
Hmm.
Truth in advertising...but not too true if it's up to the White House.
Geez. Is this Chicago or what?
unserious
How pathetic that both Rumsfeld and Cheney are accused of being war criminals. Cheney in Vancouver Canada and Rumsfeld in Boston.
Do nations so unserious deserve to survive?

Hmmm
So Dennis Miller is all in on Herman Cain. I guess i wasn't the only one impressed with the
9-9-9.
Fund raisers from Mr. Miller to follow.
Change?
Well, it seems that a least a couple of tens of people showed up in Canada's capital today. They were there to comply with GreenPeace's request for an uprising of sorts to protest the Canadian oil sands.
I'm sure the disapointing numbers had a lot to do with the fact that a lot of people are at work during the day....including, you know, women....women who can vote..and drive...:-)
A few days ago I was standing beside an old AMC (late 1970's model i believe) just as the older gentleman driver turned the key and started it up. I was hit with the nostalgic whiff of some sort of gas/oil mix that I hadn't smelled since I sold my 71 Charger.
I can't help but believe that my 2009 F150 Ford truck is easier on the 'enviornment' than my 71 Charger was (although heaven knows I LOVED that car).
At any rate I thought of that this morning when I heard that Obama has decided to ban asthma inhalers over enviornmental concerns. (H/T Ed Driscoll)
I guess we aren't making progress fast enough for the progressives.

9-9-9? Excellent
The more I see of Mr. Cain the more impressed I am.
I was a bit discouraged earlier on by his lack of understanding on the 'right of return' but his candor and willingness to research it was refreshing.
He just needs to pick a VP that is strong on foreign policy. Mr. Bolton! Are you available?
